DLM Civil Engineering & Land Surveying offers over 50 years of combined professional engineering experience in the design of private and public facilities. This experience has been obtained throughout the Southeast and includes the design and management of office parks, industrial facilities, marinas, apartments, subdivisions, commercial centers, roads, utilities, government institutions, and park and recreation facilities. As a highly diversified firm, we take pride in being able to provide all the client’s needs in-house.
Even though each design project is unique, they follow the same general steps along the path to completion. At DLM, we understand these steps and apply the same measure of professionalism to each step.
Studies and Reports - The viability of any project is established by the thoroughness of the information gathering and interpretation that goes into the pre-design studies and site analyses. DLM is familiar with the data sources and computer software necessary to generate thorough feasibility studies, flood studies and analysis of constructed facilities so that each project begins with the correct understanding of what has to be accomplished.
Landscape Architecture - The preparation of site plans today requires a good understanding of zoning criteria; landscaping and the protection of specimen vegetation; and how best to work with the site to provide a sensitive design, all while striving to achieve the owner’s goals. Making matters worse, the criteria changes from one municipality to another. DLM’s professionals realize that existing vegetation, stormwater quality, adjacent property owners, etc. all come into play in the preparation of almost any site design and this is taken into consideration from the start.
Surveying - Comprehensive and accurate surveying provides the foundation upon which all designs are based. DLM understands the interrelationship between surveying and sound engineering design and optimizes this relationship by combining engineering and surveying into one comprehensive service. Boundary and topographic surveys are prepared to provide the necessary information that the designer needs. DLM also provides expertise in hydrographic surveying of lakes, streams and rivers for siltation monitoring, depth determinations and erosion measurements. Engineering surveys for stockpiles; route designs; and construction control along with data base mapping and construction staking are also prepared with the same high standard of quality.
Engineering - The design of roads, utilities, site improvements and drainage facilities is optimized at DLM by applying extensive, appropriate design experience. Over and under designed projects are both inefficient and costly. DLM's diverse experience is most valuable in engineering design because our varied backgrounds provide extensive insight to solve design problems. This provides the client with a design based on the project needs and not designer constraints.
DLM provides the client-oriented benefit of utilizing individuals with diverse backgrounds that can handle the broad spectrum of design questions. This type of organization is essential with today's regulatory requirements and the complexity of projects. At the same time, the clients’ budgetary constraints that are so important in today's market, are taken into consideration at every step of the design process.
